Movement-based lessons are typically structured to engage and stimulate the brain in a way that promotes neural development and healing based on neuroplasticity. The lessons use specific, gentle, and non-invasive movements to enhance body awareness, designed to activate neural pathways. These movements aim to create new connections in the brain or strengthen existing ones.
The lessons are typically 30-45 minutes long, with 6-8 sessions over a span of 3-4 days. They are tailored to the individual’s abilities, with progress being gradual. Each session is adjusted to match the child's developing skills and cognitive function.
Welcome to my page, and I am glad that you found me. I am a 2024 graduate of the NeuroHorizons® Fundamentals of Experiential Movement® Seminar Program and an Experiential Movement® Mentor.
I am also a mother of a child with special needs. When my son was born with a brain injury, we faced many challenges. For the first year of his life, he was only able to look at the ceiling and say a few vowel sounds. We were searching for solutions, hoping therapy would help him move, see, feel, and eat, but all we seemed to encounter were tears and reassurances that it would take time. Each session left us feeling drained—not because we were unwilling to put in the work, but because we saw no signs of progress. The crying during sessions felt endless, and we couldn't tell if it was a step forward or just a release of pain.
During that time, I got the chance to take him to a Feldenkrais practitioner, and after a few lessons, he was able to drink from a bottle and also started to belly crawl. I researched this method and learned about ABM, JKA, and NeuroHorizons®. I trained as a parent practitioner with Jeremy Krauss in 2021 in Germany. In 2023, my son and I had the chance to learn from master teacher Sylvia Shordike at NeuroHorizons®, author of The NeuroHorizons Primer: Empower Yourself to Empower the Child With Special Needs (2020). Sylvia is the founder of the NeuroHorizons® programs, a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner®, and was formerly a long-time Practitioner and Trainer for Anat Baniel in California. Her way of teaching, her clarity on developmental stages of life, and hands-on approach paved the way for me to work not only with my son but also with others.
I look forward to meeting you and inviting your child into the “dance” toward new developmental horizons!
I currently work out of my home in Irvine, California. However, arrangements can be made for sessions at other locations to cover travel expenses.
